Dear all

On Monday, we will be led by Lotti Newstead in place of Steven who is otherwise engaged.  Lotti has been with us before and you will know what a very good trainer she is.  She is a local concert soprano.  She teaches classical singing to adults and children, provides vocal assistance and support for choirs and choral societies and runs classes in Music Appreciation.  I am sure we are in for a very good evening.  The link to the livestream is: https://www.youtube.com/live/hyxcKLx1vRY.

I attach our poster for the concert in different formats for you to publicise it.

I think some of you who came to St Mary's Church last Monday had a less than satisfactory evening in view of the new layout for the next concert.  I am sorry about this, but I am glad we were able to try this out at an early stage so we can iron problems out well before the actual concert.  We have a large orchestra for the concert and unfortunately we will not all be able to sing on or around the dais as before.

As you know, we have been having discussions about future concerts.  Currently, St Mary's is the only venue available in Thornbury that is big enough to hold our concerts.  Our future programme will be tailored taking the venue into account.  Also, the orchestra will also be tailored to the size of the performing space and building.  In future, our aim will be to accommodate all performers on and around the dais including seating.  The committee will be meeting to finalise the programme for 2025-27 bearing all this in mind and your reponses to the poll.  We will let you know what we decide.  We will be keeping an eye out on progress at Castle School (where building work is continuing) and the Armstrong Hall (which is now going to be refurbished).

I have a Cazoo water bottle which was left in church last Monday.  I will bring it to next Monday's rehearsal.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to ask a member of the committee.

Best wishes,
Mike Elcock
