Dear all
Next Monday, we will be rehearsing the following movements from Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle:
Cum Sancto Spiritu
Christe eleison
Kyrie I and II
The livestream link is: https://www.youtube.com/live/jm_H6OUUaos.
Last Monday, Brigid told us of the YouTube videos she has found of Pappano's recording with orchestra. This is a playlist broken down by section. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbtXkkxzrV7JuSt8Sk_SBeqNCQ6_VT2r3. Also, you might find this link useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B27njtsX8n4 which has piano and harmonium accompaniment. Also, Chord Perfect has YouTube videos of each section, broken down by part. Links to all these are on our website here: https://www.thornburychoralsociety.org.uk/dbpage.php?pg=view&dbase=rep&id=86.
This morning, some of the committee met with Gareth Morris, our new Director of Music from September when we agreed the Agreement for Services. It was a very fruitful meeting; expect some exciting changes ahead!
Alison says the following:
Skittles
Thank you to those of you who have already signed up for Skittles but we could do with a few more people to make it good fun. Spouses, partners and friends welcome. It will be held in the Wheatsheaf Skittle Alley on Saturday 31st January at 7.30pm and includes a Ploughman's supper for £13.00 (payable in cash to me by Monday 26th January, please). Please sign the list on the entrance table.
Workshop
Again thank you to those who have signed up for the Workshop on 28th February. You may be interested to know that one of our Finnish/Swiss friends from last year is hoping to be there and is bringing her sister. I am sure you will make them and any visitors welcome. If you are happy to make a salad or dessert please sign up on the list and if you would like reimbursing for any expenses, please let me have your receipts.
We will be studying Verdi's Requiem at Alveston Methodist Church.
If you want to come and haven't signed up yet, please complete the booking form on Monday night or book online here: https://www. thornburychoralsociety.org.uk/ dbpage.php?pg=view&dbase= events&id=194189.
Subs
Also, a polite reminder: if you pay half-yearly and have not paid the £60 subs for this half-year, please pay as soon as possible.
Thank you and enjoy singing!
