2026/7 Dates for your Diaries

Dear TCS Members,
I hope you are having a good summer enjoying the sunny, warm weather and those of you who sang with the South Cotswold Big Sing choir enjoyed the rehearsals and magnificent performance in Tewkesbury Abbey at the start of this year’s Cheltenham Music Festival.
We are looking forward to our new singing year following our AGM (which starts at 7.30pm) on the 7th September, and welcome Gareth Dafydd Morris as our new conductor.  We welcome you back to rehearsals or if you are new to our group, we welcome you too and hope you will enjoy singing with us.  Unfortunately, this year we are unable to meet in the United Reformed Church as it is being refurbished, but we are hiring the Cossham Hall, Chapel Street, Thornbury, instead and will be rehearsing there from 7.30pm to 9.00pm each Monday.  There will be NO special Welcome Evening with drinks and nibbles this year but instead we are hoping to have the Armstrong Bar available to buy soft and alcoholic drinks between 9.00 and 10.00pm after rehearsals. For this we have to clear a minimum take so are trialing the Bar for September.
We shall be singing Faure’s Requiem and various Christmas Music in St. Mary’s Church on the evening of Saturday 28th November starting at 7pm.
Our fun Social Evening planned for Monday 30th November is also on hold to see if we can find a suitable venueThis may be followed by a carol rehearsal if we are asked to sing at The Gables as part of their Christmas events, but as yet we have not been given a date.  We should be able to join in with the Thornbury Band on the Saturday before Christmas in St. Mary’s Centre.
Other dates for your Diary include January 30th for a Skittles Evening and our “Come and Sing” Workshop on Saturday 27th February 2027.
Please note that our May Concert date is Saturday May 8th and this will be followed by a Ramble and meal around the Oldbury or Tintern area on Monday May 10th.
We are still in need of a Treasurer as Geoff Stevens would like to stand down but is happy to train up someone over the coming year, so please ask if you would like to know more about the role.
Thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you in September.
