Dear all
Next week we will start to look at movement III Tu es Petrus and movement IV Tantum ergo from the Durufle. The livestream link will be: https://www.youtube.com/ live/z0CMAgqo99M.
The layout we had on Monday seems a lot better and we will try and improve on it next week by moving the piano to the centre and having more of a semi-circle. Standing is tricky as some find it difficult to see Gareth. (There will be no warm-ups.) Please can you show your appreciation at the end of rehearsals by thanking Gareth and Robin for their time and expertise.
Comments have been made about the lighting in the Cossham Hall which is not ideal. If you are having difficulty in reading your score, may I suggest you invest in a clip-on light and use a folder. You can see some examples here: https://www.amazon.co. uk/clip-light-reading-music- score/s?k=clip+on+light+for+ reading+music+score
I would encourage people to use the bar afterwards to have a chat. We and the Armstrong will then assess its use and decide on whether to continue with the facility in future.
Last week, someone left a water bottle behind. I will leave it at reception on Monday.
On Monday, I will be asking for a preliminary show of hands, by section, for those interested in going to Finland in mid-October 2027, following the invitation by the Finnish choir (Kamarikuoro PiCCante) whom we hosted last year. Please can you think about this before Monday. There is no commitment required at this stage. (Costs for flight and hotel, with stopover in Helsinki, will probably be about £1,200-1,500 for 5 or 6 days depending on numbers, but more to follow as no prices are available yet.)
Best wishes,
Mike Elcock
